Josh & Robin's Baby Shower May 28th, 2010

The Great part about being an event planner, is getting the opportunity to help plan and execute all sorts of events. I still remember the day these two got married, now check out their baby shower!  The venue of choice was the Spaghetti Warehouse - an old favorite of the families, with a great private room to accommodate all the guests. 

 Since we didn't know if it was a girl or a boy, we chose to incorporate both the baby blue and pink, with a bright yellow in the middle.  The primary theme of this shower was Winnie the Pooh, a fun and loving character that never goes out of style. 

 Working under a budget, the white linens were provided by family members, while the runners and linens from Covered Affairs added that extra touch of color!  Acting as centerpieces, all the characters from Winnie the Pooh cartoons lined the tables.

A hand-made diaper cake was created as the centerpiece on the gift table. 

The highlight of the night was this Winnie the Pooh cake provided by the Baking Institute.  And the best part.. it tasted amazing!

Gift Registries: What to do if you have everything you need?

In today's world, many couples already live together prior to getting married, and therefore have everything they need for their homes. So when it comes to Gift Registries, why register for that toaster or set of plates that you will either return or never use? Instead, here are some great ideas that will help you save money and make your guests still feel as if they are giving gifts, not chase.

1) Honeymoon registry - There are Travel Agents that can help you with this. Your guests can send money to the travel agency in forms of "tours, spas, dinners, ext" and then your Travel Agent can apply that money towards your honeymoon. 2) Home Improvement Registry - Do you want to remodel a part of your home but know that its too much money for you to afford on your own, well then have your guests help! Wedding Hairstyles - Do's and Dont's

When deciding on your wedding hairstyle, here are some simple tips to follow.

Don't...
- Meet your hairstylist for the first time on the wedding day
- Use any conditioners the night before or the day of (prevents bobby pins from holding)
- Forget your veil as part of your hairstyle
- Put your hair in a pony tale the night before or the morning of, after showering - especially if you are planning to wear it down.  
 
Do...
- Your research! Find hairstyles that you like so your hairstylist knows where to start. 
- Schedule a trial run with your hairstylist
- Do take pictures during your trail run - if you don't like what you look like in the pictures, don't risk it!
- Purchase any flowers, hair pins, or tiaras you would like to use (don't assume your hair stylist will provide these items)
- Bring along extra hairspray, straightener, and/or curler for those "into the evening" touch-ups

I love the show Platinum Weddings and am so excited for this Sunday's Episode! 

This Sunday, Platinum Weddings Comes to Chicago for Rachel and CJ's Wedding.   On top of that, one of my favorite Wedding Designers, Yanni with Yanni Design Studio, was the vendor for their big day.  So make sure to watch WE on Sunday, April 4th at 9pm/8c!
